Overview

Defyn is a crypto copy trading platform built for two distinct user types across 15+ unique flows and page designs. The goal was to design a system that scales with user progression through a three-tier rank structure — Starter, Verified, and Elite — while keeping complex trading data readable and actionable.

Problem

Copy trading platforms are built for experienced traders. New traders face verification friction, opaque strategy data, and subscription models that punish experimentation. Defyn needed a system that lowered the barrier to entry without stripping out the depth that serious traders demand — across multiple exchanges simultaneously.

Solution

A tiered dashboard system with distinct experiences per user rank. Traders monetize strategies through a point-based economy, while followers copy proven strategies across four major exchanges — Binance, Bybit, OKX, and Coinbase.

Design Decisions

Created a dual-path onboarding reducing verification time by 60% — instant API integration for experienced traders versus gradual performance tracking for beginners. Used risk badges (Low / Medium / High) as a primary trust signal on trader cards. Built a transparent point economy with four transaction types and balance management supporting redemption flows across all four exchanges.

Prototyping and Testing

Worked directly with David (frontend) and the backend developer through live production conditions — coordinating handoff under investor-meeting deadlines, navigating DNS conflicts and a compromised backend mid-sprint. Design decisions were validated through developer feedback loops rather than formal testing, optimising for speed to a working product over documented prototypes.
